FAQ - Eyelash Extensions

CAN I WEAR EYE CONTACTS?

  • Yes, you can wear contacts with eyelash extensions.  If you choose to wear them during your eyelash extension session with us, please note that your eyes may dry out since you will have your eyes closed for up to two hours. We recommend bringing eye drops.

CAN I WEAR MASCARA WITH MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

  • We do not recommend any makeup on your lashes.  If you still desire to use mascara please make sure to use an oil-free mascara.

HOW LONG DOES AN APPOINTMENT TAKE?

  • Your full set appointment may take up to 1.5 hours to 2 hrs. A refill set can take up to 60 - 90 minutes.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

  • Please arrive with no eye makeup and thoroughly cleansed lashes.  If you have makeup on or near your eyes, you will be asked to take it off upon arrival.  Note that this will interfere with the amount of time we allocated to spend on applying your eyelashes.

HOW LONG WILL MY EXTENSIONS LAST?

  • The retention of your lashes will differ from person to person.  There are many factors that may affect the longevity of your lashes such as your lifestyle (makeup), how you sleep, cleanliness, your eye shape and skin type (oily).  You can expect retention from anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks.

  • Your lashes will naturally fall off with growth.  Some customers come in for eyelash refills every 2-3 weeks, while others may come every 4-6 weeks.  Your refill time is based on your preference and how quickly your lashes grow, fall off or how you care for them.

WHAT KIND OF ADHESIVE DO YOU USE?

We use a high quality medical grade glue that is made in the USA.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS FROM THE ADHESIVE?

  • During your lash session you may experience fumes from the glue in the form of a slight burning sensation to your eyes.  This can quickly be resolved with the use of a fan.  We advise that you do not open your eyes during your eyelash extension session.

Note: Very few people may develop an allergic reaction to the glue.  This can happen to one out of 400 people with our medical grade glue.  If you become allergic, please contact us as soon as possible for removal of your lash extensions.  If in serious condition, please seek medical attention immediately.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LASHES THAT YOU PROVIDE?

We have both real and synthetic mink in stock.  Unless stated “real mink”, most lashes are synthetic in material.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REAL AND SYNTHETIC MINK?

Real Mink is light, soft, and feathery but expect a higher price.  You may choose real mink if you prefer a more luxurious feel.  The only limitation to this is that real mink only comes in one size thickness so this would not be a desirable choice for those who want a voluminous and dramatic look.

Synthetic mink comes in many different varieties of thickness, length and curvature.  This allows us to customize your eyelash extensions into various styles.

PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT

As professional lash stylists, we do our very best to create a proper bond with your natural lashes. We can only do so much in the time that we have allocated for your appointment. To protect your investment of eyelash extensions, we ask you to partner with us to provide you our best work.

Here are some ways you can help:

  • Please do not wear mascara, eyeliner or eye makeup to your appointment.

  • Clean lashes are the best lashes for eyelash extensions.

  • It is difficult to completely clean makeup off your lashes prior to your appointment.  This may result in building bacteria on your natural lashes with extensions.

  • Do not use any type of oil on your face 24 hours before your appointment.

  • If you do have makeup on, please make extra time to take off your makeup thoroughly.

  • Time taking off makeup is time away from your lash application.

LASH AFTERCARE

  • No use of water on your lashes for at least 12 hours, after getting your eyelash extensions.

  • No use of waterproof mascara or waterproof eyeliner.  There are oil-free mascaras available to use but even then, it is hard to fully clean your eyelash extensions without disturbing them.

  • Do not use oil-based products near your eye area as it will lead to the breakdown of the glue.

  • Use oil-free makeup remover or oil-free makeup wipes to clean off makeup and along your lash lines.

  • Refrain from tugging, rubbing or pulling on your eyelash extensions.

  • Be mindful as steam from saunas, and any form of heat may cause your lashes to fall prematurely.

  • You may experience fumes from the glue when in contact with steam or heat.  This will go away when you continue to clean your eyelash extensions.

  • If your lash stylist has suggested a lash serum, please consider doing so as it will help you grow stronger, healthier lashes.  There are many lash serums available for purchase in stores and online.
